PRACTICAL GUIDE

Yandex Disk downloads failing: checks, retries and resume

A file is visible in your cloud storage, but the download never starts, breaks midway or stalls repeatedly. First identify what prevents you from receiving the data. That determines whether another attempt can help.

At a glance

Try a small file, check access to the source and check free space on your computer. If the server sometimes returns data, an automatic retry queue can save repeated manual work. Retries cannot restore a deleted file or override the owner's download restrictions.

1. Separate a file problem from a connection problem

Open Yandex Disk in your browser and download one small file from the same folder. Then try the troublesome file on its own. If one works and the other fails, investigate that source instead of restarting the entire folder.

If the problem occurs in only one browser, try a window without extensions. Do not disable all computer protection. Record the exact error, time and affected filename for support. You do not need to share your password or token.

2. Check access and local disk space

A shared link may have restrictions, such as downloads disabled by the owner. Repeated requests do not grant extra permissions. Ask the owner about access if you do not control the source.

Check space on the actual destination drive. Partial downloads also take up space. CloudRetry shows available space and an estimated requirement beside the destination selector; the estimate becomes more complete as the selected sources are scanned.

3. When automatic retries help

Retries are useful when a connection breaks, a server returns a temporary error or some files only download on a later attempt. A download manager should remember completed work and return to unfinished tasks.

CloudRetry preserves its queue, schedules failed files for another attempt and prioritizes partial downloads after a restart. It continues scanning unfinished tasks while the application and download process are running. This automates manual retries; it does not guarantee recovery of unavailable data.

Use the nudge button to give one file a single attempt ahead of the ordinary queue. Current downloads continue: the requested file takes the next available download slot. You can also prioritize an entire folder.

4. Keep partially downloaded data

Keep the destination folder, queue state and partial files when restarting. If the computer is still running, use the graceful stop control: current files finish before the process stops.

Resuming from the interruption point requires server support and an unchanged source file. Otherwise some data may need to be downloaded again. A local file's presence does not prove that it is complete.

5. Why verification follows downloading

Receiving bytes and verifying integrity are separate stages. CloudRetry sends downloaded files to separate verification workers so download workers can take the next tasks. Check the completed-and-verified status, not only a full progress bar.

Verification speed depends on your storage and other disk activity. More verification workers are not always faster: concurrent reads may compete with downloads on a slow drive. Start with a small batch and adjust the worker count according to measured throughput.

When to contact support

If the same file fails in both a browser and an application, keep the error details and contact Yandex support. CloudRetry cannot restore deleted files, bypass access restrictions or retrieve data that the server never returns.

Try your own files during the five-hour trial before buying. The supported combination is currently Yandex Disk on Windows 10/11 x64. Other cloud providers are not currently supported.
