PRACTICAL GUIDE
How to download Yandex Disk files and folders to your PC
With thousands of cloud files, saving a local copy takes more than pressing Download. You need to select sources, prepare storage, handle interruptions and verify the result. Here is a practical workflow for Windows.
Start with a small folder, check the space and result, then add more sources. Preserve the queue between sessions. For a large job, knowing which files are unfinished matters more than maximizing the number of simultaneous downloads.
1. Match the method to the task
For a few files, start with your browser. For synchronization between devices, check the official client and the conditions of your plan. For a controlled local copy with automatic retries, CloudRetry is another option.
CloudRetry downloads to a destination folder with read-only access to Yandex Disk. Local deletions made through the application are not synchronized back to the cloud. This is useful when you need a separate archive on your PC.
2. Prepare the destination and free space
Choose an accessible drive that will remain connected during the task. For an external drive, check the connection and available storage before beginning a large download.
Queue state and partial files are needed to continue. Do not remove them as temporary files before the task is complete. For important data, a single local copy is not enough: after verification, keep another copy on a separate storage device.
3. Connect Yandex Disk and select sources
Personal-account sign-in happens on the Yandex website. You do not need to send the developer your password. A public link can be a separate source if downloading is permitted.
- Install CloudRetry and launch its shortcut. The local control page opens in your browser.
- Connect your account, select folders and individual root files, or add a public link.
- Choose the destination on your PC and review the size estimate.
- Download a small folder and wait for the completed-and-verified status. Then continue with other sources.
4. Manage the queue without interrupting active files
Prioritize a folder if you need its documents first. Current downloads finish while free workers start taking files from the priority source. You can temporarily skip unwanted folders and return them to the queue later.
The per-file nudge button requests one attempt ahead of the ordinary queue. It does not create a permanent priority. Use the graceful stop control to finish current downloads and then continue from the saved state.
5. Check what actually finished
An overall percentage does not prove that an archive is ready. Check each folder's fully downloaded and verified file count and its pending retries. CloudRetry uses separate download and verification queues.
Open several completed documents, photos and videos from different folders. For important archives, also test extraction. If the original file is already damaged, receiving an exact copy of its bytes will not repair its contents.
Keep unfinished tasks in the queue. After restarting, CloudRetry attempts partial downloads first and then continues. If a source stays unavailable, contact its owner or the cloud provider's support.
Try CloudRetry before buying
The trial lasts five hours from first launch, including time while the application is closed. No code or payment is required for the trial. Select a representative folder of your own files and check the result.
A license costs RUB 499 with no subscription and supports one active computer. You can release its binding to move it to another PC. Activation continues with the saved queue. Currently supported: Yandex Disk on Windows 10/11 x64.
